Seven Year Old Twin Boys

It happened.  Even though I kept telling them I wasn't going to let it happen.  My little boys (that's what I've always called them) turned seven on Sunday.  Yes, they did!  I cannot believe how fast seven years have flown.

These little boys were born on April 22, 2005.  We didn't know they existed until Labor Day weekend of that year.  That is when we heard the story of four month old twin boys who needed a forever home.  That is the weekend that changed our lives.  That is the weekend we drug a crib out of the attic, assembled it, borrowed another crib from my sister, and brought these amazing guys into our lives.

The past seven years have been crazy, hectic, insane, fun, and awesome all at the same time.  The next seven years will go by just as fast.  And I will have twin teenage sons who will probably still be crazy, hectic, insane, fun, and awesome.

I think Moose was more excited to turn seven than his brother.  He wants to be like his older brother so bad.  He loves people and always wants to be surrounded by friends.  He will tell you his favorite thing to do is play with his friends.  In fact, not letting him play with friends is the worst punishment I can give him right now.

Devin on the other hand does very well one-on-one.  He does not like a crowd and will seek out one person to focus on.  He loves to do anything his dad does!  He says all the time he wants to be just like dad when he grows up.  He will also do just about anything to make us laugh.  He has some of the goofiest faces I have ever seen!
Happy 7th birthday to my favorite twin boys ever!!

Earth Day 2012

If you were to ask me when Earth Day was started, my guess would be within the lat ten years.

Growing up (I was born in 1974) I don't remember ever hearing about Earth Day, and I don't remember hearing anything about it during my college years (1992-1996).  So I decided to do a little research about Earth Day for myself and will share what I learned with my readers.

When is Earth Day?  April 22 is the official Earth Day, although many communities have an Earth week or Earth month in April.

What year was Earth Day started?  1970.

Who founded Earth Day?  Gaylord Nelson, who at the time was a U.S. Senator from Wisconsin.

Where was the first Earth Day celebrated? Only in America, 20 million people took part in the celebration!

What year did Earth Day go global? 1990.

What can I do for Earth Day?  Change a habit.  Volunteer.  Plant a garden or tree.  Install solar panels.
Turn off the lights.  Go paperless.  Use eco-friendly products.  Give unused items away.

Most of this information came from the Earth Day Network website.  I highly recommend checking out  all the information they have!  I was able to learn everything I ever wanted to know and more about Earth Day!

Ramblings

:::When my boys get off the bus today, they will only have 24 more days of school!

:::My twins turn 7 on Sunday. Although the oldest one keeps telling me "since we were born on a Friday, our birthday is really Friday, not Sunday". So he is trying to convince me they will be 7 tomorrow!

:::The book club I belong to started a new book called UNBROKEN by Laura Hillenbrand. I know this spent weeks on the New York Times Bestseller list, but for some reason I couldn't make myself read it. Now that the book club is "making" me read it, I am enthralled! I only have 54 pages left. Every time I start reading I don't want to put the book down.

:::My back patio door is open and a bird just hopped in. Seriously! He promptly hopped back out.

:::I have been spending money like crazy. Old Navy. Target. LL Bean. Walmart. Payless Shoe Source. It seems like no one has clothes or shoes or socks that fit.

:::Youth turkey hunting starts this weekend. The twins are going to spend their birthday turkey hunting with their dad. Sounds like fun for them!

:::While they are gone, I plan to make brownies (for Devin), chocolate reese cup cake (for Dalton), and get lots of Reese's cup ice cream for us to enjoy when they get back from their day of hunting!

What I did today...so far!

Woke up.

Woke up one boy so he could get in the shower.

Went back to bed for 11 minutes. The best 11 minutes of sleep ever.

Woke up again.

Checked email and earned 10 SWAGBUCKS.

Woke up 2 more boys.

Helped 2 boys get dressed.

Came downstairs and fed 3 boys breakfast, found shoes for 3 boys, and got 3 boys out the door.

Ate breakfast.

Took a shower.

Went to volunteer for one hour in 1st grade.

Went to Kroger. Bought laundry detergent, fruit snacks, and old navy gift card.

Went to Hallmark store. Bought nothing!

Went to Aldi. Bought lots of groceries.

Went to bank. Got some $$.

Came home.

Put all the stuff I bought away.

Put some ribs in the crockpot for tonight's dinner.

Folded 3 loads of laundry.

Made chocolate chips cookies.

Watched the REVENGE I recorded last night while doing the above 2 things.

Ate chocolate chip cookies for lunch.

Washed winter coats (hopefully for the last time this year....they are going in the closet for good)

Went to Home Depot to return a toilet wax ring we didn't need. (We got a new toilet in our master bathroom this week. No more running toilet....sounds like a bad joke)

Stopped at Starbucks for a skinny cinnamon dolce latte and large ice water. I am obsessed with Starbucks ice water! I am also very close to getting my very own Starbucks gold card!

Got home.

Checked the mail.

Ate more cookies.

Now I have 47 minutes until the back door opens and the kids are home. I'm sure I will do more all evening than I have done all day!!

Currents~April

Current Books~ The Paris Wife (by Paula McLain). I joined a book club last month. This was the first book picked for us to read. We have our book discussion meeting in one week. I am 2/3 done with the book. I have really enjoyed reading a book I probably would not have picked to read on my own. Also reading What Your Son Isn't Telling You (by Michael Ross & Susie Shellenberger). As a mom of three boys, this book has been very eye-opening to me!

Current Color~ Yellow! I am seeing yellow everywhere and love it!

Current Drink~ Mostly water. I am happy to say I have not had a Diet Dr. Pepper or Diet Coke in a very long time! (like over 3 months ago) I decided to try drinking water, tea, and coffee only sometime in January. There really was not a particular reasoning behind this, just something I wanted to do.

Current Food~ Papa Johns new Buffalo Chicken pizza! It is amazingly good :) Also blueberries and yogurt!

Current Excitement~ Easter is almost here and I get to celebrate my twins turning 7 on April 22nd!

Current Indulgence~ I bought a pint of Blue Bell Banana Pudding ice cream. It lasted 2 days. I ate it all!

Current Want~ I really want to get something new to wear for Easter. I guess that's the little girl in me. And since I don't have any little girls to dress up, I will have to dress myself up.

Current Need~ Nothing!

Current Mood~ Happy. The high today is in the 80s, so I will soon go outside and read (one of my very favorite things to do)

That's all for now!!
