Communication as a Couple

One area (of many!) I have been working on this year is communication with my spouse. If you know my husband at all, you can just imagine some of our conversations. I talked him into taking a couple's communication class at our church which was very interesting! I learned some things that I already knew (I'm pretty sure that's an oxymoron), but never really took the time to think about. That being said, when Tyndale Publishing offered this book for review, I jumped on it!

This book is a step-by-step guide for busy couples. The author, Kathy Peel, and her husband Bill give practical easy to follow advice. There are multiple worksheets to go through with your spouse in order to fix your weak areas. My husband does not enjoy reading, so I am going to have to work this into our every day life. He is not one to sit down and talk, he's more of a hands-on kind of guy. So now I just need to find time to finish the book and start applying!

What I've Been Up To

Registering two little boys for Kindergarten! I can't believe they will be five in April and go to school in August.

Reading. Reading. Reading. I love to read!

Selling on Ebay! I'm trying to clean out my closet and get rid of junk! I'll let you know how much money I make!

Happy Valentine's Day!

For Valentine's Day I made myself this lovely Lego pen holder! How cute is that. The boys were very impressed with my building skills. They all couldn't believe I made it all by myself. I am one talented mamma! Now I'm going to tackle cake balls and heart cake. Not really, but maybe one day!

Snow Days!

We have snow. Lots of snow! I hope our poor trampoline makes it. It's awfully saggy. And guess who forgot to put up the patio furniture? Yep, that would be me.

And this is what my laundry room looks like. Wet dog, wet boots, wet socks, wet floor. I keep telling my husband I'm not cut out for this weather. Maybe next winter I'll hibernate.

The boys have been off school for two days and have spent a ridiculous amount of time on YouTube watching Michael Jackson, Weird Al, and other crazy things. I'm ready for school to be in session tomorrow!!

Floor Installation

Today is the big day! My kitchen floor is being installed today. I cannot tell you how excited I am. Last night we moved every kitchen appliance into the living room. The boys were totally excited to have the fridg so close to the couch. They said "we don't even have to leave the room to get food!" They want it to stay there forever. Hopefully it won't!

Here is a sneak peak of the floor.

Now my house is a total disaster area, and ironically I started a new book study with some friends from MOPS. It's all about home organization and making your home life more peaceful One day I will have peace...just not today and probably not tomorrow either!

I'm Back!

Things are looking much better on the home front. We are all relatively healthy, the upstairs bathroom is no longer leaking, and my kitchen flooring will hopefully be installed this week. Today I made some blueberry white chocolate scones. The name makes them sound really good. But they turned out (in the words of Noah) looking like moldy cookies. Guess I can throw away that recipe!

And this is a cute picture of all my children. I just love them!

I don't feel like a princess

This little ceramic tile hangs in my kitchen window. My sister bought it for me years ago. It is to remind me of my princess status. Although this week I don't feel like a princess. It all started Monday night when Noah got sick. Poor boy missed school Tuesday because he couldn't stop puking. He made it to the toilet every time except once. Then Wednesday night I got sick. I made it to the toilet every time! (thankfully!) My poor brother and sister in law, who are moving across the country, stopped in Indiana on the day I was sick. Then last night I noticed a leak in our ceiling coming from the upstairs bathroom! We knew we needed to replace the shower stall in the kid's bathroom; only now it will be sooner than we had planned. And today Moose went to the walk-in clinic at our doctor's office with a raging ear infection. Poor boy screamed for hours! It's amazing what a dose of antibiotics and motrin has done already for him. So now we will see what tomorrow brings!
