I don't feel like a princess

This little ceramic tile hangs in my kitchen window. My sister bought it for me years ago. It is to remind me of my princess status. Although this week I don't feel like a princess. It all started Monday night when Noah got sick. Poor boy missed school Tuesday because he couldn't stop puking. He made it to the toilet every time except once. Then Wednesday night I got sick. I made it to the toilet every time! (thankfully!) My poor brother and sister in law, who are moving across the country, stopped in Indiana on the day I was sick. Then last night I noticed a leak in our ceiling coming from the upstairs bathroom! We knew we needed to replace the shower stall in the kid's bathroom; only now it will be sooner than we had planned. And today Moose went to the walk-in clinic at our doctor's office with a raging ear infection. Poor boy screamed for hours! It's amazing what a dose of antibiotics and motrin has done already for him. So now we will see what tomorrow brings!

Why I LOVE LL Bean!

EXHIBIT A. One day while I was at work, one of my boys wore this LL Bean vest outside to split wood with daddy. Somehow the vest got laid down on the motor and was quickly burned. Thankfully no one was injured! I contacted LL Bean about this, and they have a 100% guarantee on any item.

EXHIBIT B. The awesome customer service rep e-mailed me a postage paid return slip; I packaged the vest and sent it back to Maine.

EXHIBIT C. I got a check last week for the full purchase price I paid for the vest! I will definitely continue shopping with LL Bean!

The wall is down

The wall is down. Now we are moving on to wallpaper stripping, drywall mudding, painting, flooring, and trim. Which equals time, money, money, and more money! I cannot wait for this project to be complete! I know I am going to love the outcome; it's just hard to wait.

Salted Jellyfish

If you know Noah at all you know one thing about him: he loves all sea creatures and anything that was to do with the ocean. He told me last week he is going to be a Marine Biologist with the Coast Guard when he grows up. Over Christmas break he got to hang out with dad by himself one evening. He picked the two places he wanted to go: the Chinese buffet and the Asian Market. He talked his dad into buying a packet of salted jellyfish. He was convinced he was going to love it!

So one afternoon I fixed the boy's lunch and surprised Noah with his salted jellyfish. Pizza, pizza, or jellyfish. It's hard to choose! So he tried the jellyfish (meaning he took one bite), said "this is too salty!", and then said "I'll just have pizza."

So I don't think we will be making any more trips to the Asian Market for jellyfish!

My Kitchen

We are in the midst of a total kitchen makeover! Thankfully my skilled husband is able to do all the manual labor to keep costs down. We have been spending money at Home Depot like crazy. Here is a before picture of my main kitchen area.

And this is after. Now we usually don't have that many bags of chips on the counter, but I believe this was the day after New Years.

And this is the wall that will not be there soon...

Almost gone....

2010

He must become greater; I must become less. John 3:30

This is my resolution for the year.
More of HIM.
Less of me.
