Happy Memorial Day!

Last Day of School!

So it looks like my first grade twin boys never cleaned out their desks this year.  They both came home with two bags full of stuff.  Papers, folders, notebooks, crayons, pencils, erasers, glue sticks, markers, and junk out the wazoo!  There were papers from the beginning of the year and papers from the end of the year.  So I spent about an hour sorting through the piles and ended up trashing most of it.

I think I tossed approximately 78 pencil nubs, 64 broken crayons, and 4 rancid glue sticks.  I did not know glue sticks could smell so bad after 8 months!
And if you need an eraser, please feel free to stop by our house.  I told them I am not buying any more pink erasers!  Not one of them had a scuff mark.  It looks like they just drew on them and tore them into pieces.

Our school district is going to the balanced calendar schedule on August 1st, so guess where I will be in 2 short months?  Buying more crayons, pencils, folders, markers, scissors (it's a never ending cycle), but NOT erasers!

One more day!

Tomorrow is the last day of school for my 3 boys!

I have unsubscribed to about 45 unnecessary email lists in the last 4 days.

I keep forgetting to go check the lost and found at the elementary school.  We are down 2 jackets!

Tomorrow I have one awards program, then need to go to Aldi and stock up on food for 3 growing boys.

My husband was in a motorcycle wreck on Sunday.  He is okay, just very sore and lots of road rash.

It is supposed to be really hot in Indiana this weekend.  I'm not sure what we will be doing.

I did not get half the things done that I thought I should/would get done while the boys were in school this year.

Megan moved to Colorado last weekend.  It was a very sad goodbye!

Megan gets married in 39 days.  I really need to go dress shopping.  Is there etiquette for what the step mother of the bride should wear?

I haven't looked at Pinterest in a long time!

I am currently re-reading The Shack (for my monthly book club...we call ourselves The Page Turners) and What Alice Forgot.  Need to finish these quickly because...

When school ends, my productivity goes out the window!

Random Happenings at our house

So a lot has been happening here at our house!  The boys have only 2 weeks and one day left of their school year.  I had a list a mile long last August that I wanted to accomplish while they were in school.  I really don't know what happened to the list, nor do I know how many things I actually accomplished.  The days can go so slow, but a school year flies by!

Megan graduated from Ball State Teacher's College last Saturday.  So proud of her for graduating with great grades and in 4 years.  These days that is a great accomplishment!

We got ourselves a brand new driveway.  And they poured a cement slab out in the back yard for a basketball court (just a half court).  So hopefully this will keep the boys busy this summer.  Lots and lots of basketball!
The other day I moved one small cabinet that's on wheels to sweep in the kitchen.  Look what I found.  Who knew I had such treasures hiding under my cabinet?!?
Tomorrow is our last MOMSnext meeting for this school year.  We are going to talk about what to do with kids all summer without going crazy.  I just so happened to stumble upon this great website called Everyday Truth that is talking about this idea all month.  She is talking about planning and being intentional with your kids this summer.  Not just letting them stay up really late hoping they will sleep in the next morning, so you can sleep in too...which is what I did a lot last summer.  So here's to a great memory making summer with my kiddos!
