Colorado in March

I may or may not have become addicted to making Instagram collages while we were in Colorado for Spring Break.  We were able to spend lots of time with Megan and Garret, and the boys did not want to come home.   It was a little cold and really snowy when we got there, but it started to warm up towards the end of the week.  We went to Bent's Old Fort one day.  It was a long drive, but it was a neat place once we got there.  My boys loved the gift shop, of course!  We lived in Colorado for five years from 1997-2002, and it is amazing how many places we never visited!

When we lived in Colorado, I loved the prairie dogs.  I know they are a real nuisance and most people do not like them, but I called them "my friends" and would get excited every time I saw them.  I also love love love Souper! Salad!.  It is the best restaurant ever invented.  I love salad, so this is the perfect place to eat (for me).  Although it is not very relaxing with three boys.  And the bottom picture is the first home I ever owned.  It is where I brought my first baby home, and we planted trees and grass, and finished the basement.  We had lots and lots of hours invested in this little home.  Then we sold it and moved to Indiana.

We decided to have craft night at Megan's house.  The boys had fun decorating Easter eggs, Steve made some apple jack for Garret, and Megan and I made beaded crosses.  Everything turned out really well.  We tried to come up with another craft the next night, but failed.

Lastly, I think this is my favorite picture of the whole trip.  We are riding on the back of the four wheeler while Megan is driving like a maniac!  If you look closely, you can see the dirt on Devin's teeth.  I was screaming like a crazy lady, but it was really fun!

My favorite 12 year old {my son}

I cannot believe I have a 12 year old son.  You are really into basketball.  Your goal is to be able to slam dunk on a regulation basketball goal.

You cannot wait to be taller than me and stronger than your dad.  I think you will taller than me before you are stronger than your dad.  Your dad says you'll never be stronger than him!

Your feet are now bigger than mine.  I have big feet which means you will have really big feet when it's all said and done!

You really hate to have your picture taken.  This is the only picture you would let me take of the two of us.  I'm not looking too good!

You are a great kid.  People tell me that all the time!  Then you usually do something really dumb, and it brings me back to parenting reality.  You are a great kid who messes up like everyone in the world.  But I am proud of you no matter what.  If you end up playing in the NBA or being a used car salesman, I will always be your biggest fan!

Catching Up on March!

It's been a while since I've blogged!  So I'm going to try to catch up on all the happenings around here.

I didn't win the Biggest Loser contest at work.  I was very bummed that I didn't win the six hundred bucks.  I came in third place with a weight loss percentage of 12.444 in the 8 week contest.  The winner lost 14.04%, so I needed to lose 4 more pounds to win.  I don't think I could have done it unless I did a colonoscopy prep (which we all talked about doing at work).  So I settled for third place and no prize.

The boys Spring Break started yesterday.  It is cold cold cold here.  I am still using the wood burning stove.

More than half of my family is now in Colorado.  Steve took the twins on a road trip out there.  Then Noah and I are flying out on Saturday.  We are so excited to see Megan and Garret.  I am excited about eating at Souper Salad!

I went to Kohls today to return one thing.  I took Noah with me.  He ended up with new shoes, shorts, and swimming trunks!  I had 2 coupons I just had to use.  Ha!  Then I got a $10 Kohls cash to use in April.  They sure know how to get me to shop.

I really want some Converse tennis shoes.  I tried a pair on at Kohls today and really liked them.  Maybe I will use my Kohls cash on me and not the boys!

I have to work tomorrow during the IU game.  What a bummer.

We are officially done with basketball for the season.  We are moving on to baseball with the twins, and Noah is not playing any sport this spring.

I am still in love with Duck Dynasty.  It never gets old.

MARCH

{Reading}  I just finished reading Working It Out by Abby Rike.  She is a former Biggest Loser contestant whose husband and two small children were killed in a car accident.  It is an amazing book!  I want to meet her now.  I am currently reading A Week in Winter by Maeve Binchy.  Sadly this is the last Maeve Binchy book that will ever be published.

{Watching}  Duck Dynasty of course!  My family is so glad the new season has started.  I also love watching the Biggest Loser.  I usually take two nights on the elliptical machine to watch it.  It makes the minutes fly by!

{Exciting} We are going to Colorado at the end of the month to see Garret and Megan.  I haven't been to Colorado in a long time.  The mountains have missed me!

{Eating}  I have been eating a lot of soup and salads.  The weight loss contest at work ends in five days.  This has been the longest 8 weeks of my life.  I am in second place right now.  The prize for second place is nothing.  The winner gets $600!  If I don't win, I just need to keep telling myself that it has been the best $25 that I have ever spent.

{Wearing}  My clothes are getting very loose on me.  I really need to do some shopping!

{Drinking}  I have been drinking tons of water

{Preparing}  I really think March is going to fly by.  With Spring Break, Noah's birthday, and Easter, and all the activities that go along with these, we are going to be very busy.  I cannot believe I will have a 12 year old at the end of this month!

{Wanting}  I really want to go to a tea store and learn all about brewing loose leaf tea.  I drink a few cups of coffee a day and would love to replace some of those cups with tea.

Should I keep the t-shirt?

When it comes to getting rid of "stuff", I usually don't have a hard time doing it.  I am definitely not a hoarder or a pack rat.  There are some things that I have more of than others (books, scrapbook supplies I don't use, lunch bags, and I'm sure my husband could add to this list), but I am also very good at boxing stuff up for yard sales or taking it to Goodwill or just throwing it out!  There has only been one time when I thought I threw something out that I really wanted back.  It was my college graduation picture from 1996.  I was really tan and skinny that day, and I thought I had gotten rid of it on a day that I was upset with myself for not being tan and skinny any longer.

I think I searched for the picture on several occasions, but never found it.  As luck would have it, it showed up at my house one day.  My mom brought it over.  I still don't know if it was her copy of the picture, or if she somehow borrowed mine and returned it.  Needless to say, I am glad to have the picture back in my possession.

Now comes the million dollar question!  Should I throw this t-shirt away?  It is from 2007.  It has bleach stains, a hole in the arm, and some mystery spots (grease?) all over the front.  It has seen better days.  But it is the shirt from the winter retreat where Megan met "the boy" she was going to eventually marry.  It was a long journey to get those two down the aisle, but every time I see this t-shirt I remember standing in the doorway of her bedroom listening to her crazy story thinking this girl is nuts! When all the time I was the crazy one.  Because in 2007 at Horn Creek, she found her husband!  So the sentimental value is there, and I cannot decide what to do.  I kept telling her I was going to wear the shirt to her wedding.  But since it was 100 degrees that day, I opted to wear a summer dress instead!
